Ok, so I've been90-95% raw this weekand doing juice only for breakfast and lunch and I am down to 193.5.That's EIGHT pounds in6 days people.

Last nightfor dinner I had some shrimp alfredo pasta and a salad and that seems to break the no mixing proteins with starch rule because that always sits fine. I also took some veggie enzyme pills since I was eating a lot of pasta. BUT we went out for ice cream and that wasn't so nice, my stomache was killing me. I yacked my brains out when I got home and felt a lot better. I always throw up when stuff isn't sitting right but I hear from other people that they crap their brains out when they eat something badly combined. I donno which is worse.

When I do all raw for the day I lose over a pound a day but if I add cooked dinner into the mix it knocks it down to half a pound a day. I'm going to keep on this since it is still agreeing with me and I am losing so much weight. I look skinnier already and I figure that I'm losing weight2 times as fast as the first time around with this since I am focusing so much on the raw stuff instead of combining cooked foods. Typical Aries, so impatient. But I really need to get this weight off or I'm scared I will be this big for the rest of my life. It's already been over a decade since I was 150lbs and a size 10.

I'm ashamed to admit that before FFL I was one of those people that rarely if ever ate anything raw. Oh I got my veggies in, but they were always cooked. I would have rather starved than eat a salad before this. Stupid stupid stupid. And I know it's not the fact that I'm eating less calories because I routinely would starve myself on 400 calories a day in high school weeks on end and the scale would not budge. Of course everything I ate though was cooked at that time. So looking back it's no wonder that I didn't lose weight.

My psoriasis is clearing up quickly too. I can see normal skin starting to come in where I have patches of it.

Is raw food it then? The key to weight loss and health? It seems that way so far. I am really interested to see if the weight loss will hold at a steady rate. I'm guessing it will because it was a steady 4 lbs a week the first time on FFL and the author talks about how he dropped 50 lbs in a month when he discovered eating like this. He doesn't flat out give you a plan for that one but the clues are there in the books. Fruit is predigested and doesn't take any energy to process...fresh juices even more so...the more raw foods you do, the quicker you will lose weight. How nice would that be to lose 8 or 9 lbs a week for the next month or so?

As far as motivation to stick to the diet, I have plenty. I'm losing so fast that there is noway I want to break it. And it's easy to stick to it because my cravings went away the first day. I had 5 junior mints last week, that was it for candy consumption and I was one of those people that ate candy all day long. The next day that I MAY break my dietwill be the day before memorial day and my family is having a cook out. Maybe I will bring that awesome kale salad and just eat that LOL.

Everyday I will wait till past midnight my time, just to accompany hubby while he is cooking in preparation for Iftar. My heart breaks seeing him taking over the task that should be mine. Being the only son in his family, doing house work especially cooking was never his forte.

Now he is an expert at most of the food that he loves especially Sardine Curry, Chicken Kabsah and Fattouch. Coming home from work is normally after 1800 hours, and as the end of summer is approaching there; the sunset is early as well. Having hardly half an hour at times upon reaching home, hubby will have to do Iftar with just plain water (as that is the only water that he will drink). There were also times that he had to work late, which left him with no choice but to eat out, of course at the limited trusted `halal restaurants. The only disadvantage of him eating out means he will be arriving home much later then he would normally like.

Ramadhan is a new thing to hubby, initially it was tough for him, but alhamdulillah he is fine with the routine now, and I am so proud of him. I can only encourage him by staying by his side all the time even if it means on the internet world. To make sure that he also wakes up at dawn to do the `suhur I will also call to wake him up. We try to make the best of everything possible while keeping our faith in each other strong.

Gardeners, I imagine, are a lot like parents of multiple children. You love all of your plants/children the same (at least that's what you say), but deep in your heart of hearts, you know you have a favorite. (This is complete speculation on my part as I do not have any kids.) The mortgage lifter is my favorite.

I first came to know of this heirloom variety tomato at the 2008 Philadelphia Flower show. It caught my attention first because I was looking for non-red heirloom fruits; second, this plant, like my mother, hails from Wet, Wild, Wonderful West Virginia. According to its lineage, it was created in the 1930's in Logan, West Virginia by a radiator repairman trying to ease the impact of the Great Depression on his family.

This has been a rough summer in the garden. NJ had a cool spring, so I got off to a late start transplanting my seedlings. When summer did finally arrive, it was a wet and humid one (not the best conditions for growing tomatoes). in mid-summer my non-gardening life necessitated some neglect-method gardening and one morning I discovered the damn plant toppled over.

Despite these many setbacks, my (intentionally) low-yield, organically grown tomatoes are coming along nicely. As each of us pays more and more for fuel and food, I am so happy to organically grow local food that is tasty to boot. More garden photos to follow in the coming weeks.
